Chiropractors are trained worldwide. In the USA there are currently 17 chiropractic colleges, 2 in Australia, 2 in Canada, 2 in England, 1 in France, 1 in New Zealand and 2 in South Africa.
The University of Johannesburg (UJ) and the Durban University of Technology (DUT) are the 2 chiropractic training institutions currently in South Africa. A chiropractor studies from 6 years to obtain a Masters Degree in Chiropractic. This training includes a solid foundation of general sciences and clinical subjects. Students are required to write and present a research project and dissertation. During the 5th and 6th year the students treat patients under supervision of experienced chiropractors on the campus clinic.
